Season Of Generosity (GIving Tuesday)

Giving Tuesday is a global movement observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This year it lands on Tuesday November 28th. It encourages people worldwide to embrace the spirit of generosity by giving back to their communities and supporting charitable causes. Participants can donate money, time, or resources to nonprofits and charitable organizations. This day serves as a reminder to prioritize acts of kindness and philanthropy during the holiday season, fostering a sense of community and making a positive impact on society. below is a list of local not for profits that could use your support this holiday season.

Cradles to Crayons

-Mission: Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities.

-How you can help: Their Gear Up for Winter initiative supplies winter gear to children whose families struggle just to stay warm. There are three main ways you can help this holiday season. Either shop online for clothing to donate, give away lightly use gear, and sponsor a clothing pack.

Common Pantry

Mission: Common Pantry meets the emergency needs of our local community by providing healthy food, kinship and support to help overcome poverty-related challenges.

Vision: Strengthen Common Pantry’s capacity to provide food and services for the overall well-being of our clients. We take a strategic, forward-thinking approach to reduce hunger and address the root causes of poverty, infusing compassion into everything we do.

How you can help: There are many way to assist Common Pantry. You can donate your time helping with food distribution, food drives, and community service. You can also donate money to help keep to meal and service programs running at Common Pantry.

Nourishing Hope

-Mission: “Food for Today.Hope for Tomorrow.”

Nourishing Hope, is a dynamic social services organization providing food, mental wellness counseling and other social services, such as job and housing assistance, to our Chicago neighbors in need. Founded in 1970, they strive to serve the needs of the whole person — with respect and dignity, always.

-How you can help: Whether you are able to give financially, donate food or household items or volunteer your time, we take your generosity seriously. Those who give to Nourishing Hope can be assured that donations of all kinds will directly benefit your neighbors who need it most.

Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club

-Mission: ​To enhance the well-being and develop the potential of our club members, their families, and the community

-How you can help: “Giving Tuesday Campaign” Every dollar you contribute goes directly toward programs that empower and uplift our community. And the best part? Thanks to a group of anonymous donors, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $30,000! This means your generosity will have twice the impact!

Strength to Love Foundation

-Mission: They passionately believes that all human beings have the universal rights to liberty, food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, education and work.

At the Strength to Love Foundation Asthma & Allergy Free Clinic, they provide comprehensive, longitudinal, sub-specialty care in the field of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology at no charge to their patients. They care for patients of all ages, children and adults. If needed, we will provide transportation to our clinic.

-How you can help: You can help Strength to Love by financially supporting different services they offer. Some donation opportunities include their Transportation Fund, Antibiotic Stewardship Program, and Immunotherapy Program for those in need.

The Tween Esteem Project

Mission: The Tween Esteem Project helps today's youth recapture their confidence through art and authenticity. We empower tweens and teens to love what they see in the mirror through the luxury experience of a Vogue-style portrait session.

How you can help: As a nonprofit organization, they believe all tweens and teens deserve access to this confidence-boosting art form regardless of ability to pay. Your donation will go directly to helping teens get the resources they need to empower their self image.

Arcus Behavioral Health & Wellness

Mission: Their mission is to bridge the gap in mental health care for underinsured or uninsured individuals and families, especially LGBTQ+, ethnic/cultural, and immigrant minorities. Their approach includes providing high-quality, LGBTQ-affirming services while covering the cost of therapy to fairly compensate our clinicians. Their goal is to promote community mental health care through counseling, psychotherapy, and education. They aim to reduce the stigma of mental health care by equally focusing on enhancing the well-being and quality of life of Their clients as well as addressing pathology.

How you can help: We believe health care is a human right, which includes access to high quality mental health care. You can support their mission by donating to their programs to help those in need around our community.

Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health Cafe

Address: 1051 West Belmont Chicago

Mission: Their priority is to educate, and remove the financial, systematic and emotional barriers to make therapy more accessible for the black communities of Chicago. The goal of this program is to therefore match individuals and families with a therapist, free of costs to them, and on behalf of fundraising conducted by this organization.

How you can help: They are currently connecting 110 applicants to therapists and providing each of them with 20 sessions that costs this organization $220,000.00 for the next five months. They could use your support to provide free counseling to those around our community!

&Rise

Mission: At &Rise, we are on a mission to help any & all women get the support they need to succeed, and we are building a generous community dedicated to volunteering and giving to our cause so we can expand our mission worldwide!

How you can help:

Donate- You directly to their organization or “Shop & Support” from a partner site.

Fundraise- Host a Facebook fundraiser to support their cause.

Volunteer- Use you time and volunteer in many different areas and make an impact.

Sponsorship- Sponsor us for an Event or become a Corporate Sponsor.

Theraplay

Mission: The Theraplay Institute is dedicated to building strong families and emotionally healthy children and adults through Theraplay training, treatment, advocacy, and research. Theraplay was developed for any professional working to support healthy child/caregiver attachment. Strong attachment between the child and the important adults in their life has long been believed to be the basis of lifelong good mental health as well as the mainstay of resilience in the face of adversity.

How you can Help: You can choose to donate to Theraplay and its different services they provide. You can choose from the General Fund, Training and Certification Scholarship, The Theraplay Clinic Fund, and Theraplay Camp Fund.
